Netflix has confirmed the return of one of its supernatural action thrillers, with a second season now officially on the calendar. The streamer revealed when the next chapter will arrive, signaling the continuation of its adaptation rooted in a popular gaming franchise.
Devil May Cry Season 2 release date set for Netflix series
Netflix has set the release date for Devil May Cry Season 2. The series will premiere on May 12, 2026. Netflix Geeked announced on X, “This is what they call a heart-warming family reunion. Dante returns in Devil May Cry Season 2, premiering May 12 on Netflix.”
Netflix shared the announcement alongside a new poster and confirmed the news through an official press release, highlighting the next chapter of the series. The post also credited Studio Mir for its work on the production. The series forms part of Adi Shankar’s Bootleg Multiverse and continues the storyline established in the first season, which debuted on April 3, 2025, on Netflix.
Season 2 advances the narrative following several major developments introduced previously. Vergil makes his debut and declares Mundus the one who freed him from bondage. Baines publicly reveals that Hell is real, while Lady double-crosses Dante and leaves him in cryogenic suspension.
Adi Shankar outlined changes for the upcoming season. He stated, “Season 2 is a vvvvveryyyyy different show. Yes, Dante levels up. His skills improve and you’ll see him embrace more of the iconic badassery fans of the game expect. That said, I’m still telling a story, and great characters don’t just win — they grow. What makes Dante compelling isn’t that he’s unstoppable — it’s that he learns and keeps getting stronger.”
The animated series features Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante and Chris Coppola as Enzo. Directed by Park So Young and written by Alex Larsen, the eight-part supernatural action thriller will return slightly more than a year after its initial debut.
