Khandi Alexander joins Kylie Bunbury in the ABC pilot for Get Christie Love
Khandi Alexander (Treme, Scandal) is set to star opposite Kylie Bunbury (Game Night, Under the Dome) in the upcoming ABC pilot for the reboot of Get Christie Love, according to Deadline. The show comes to us from Power creator and showrunner Courtney Kemp and producers Vin Diesel, Debra Martin Chase and Shana C. The show is a co-production between Lionsgate Television and Universal Television. Diesel, Kemp, Chase and Waterman will also executive produce.
Get Christie Love is based on the 1974 blaxsploitation TV movie and series. The pilot was written by Kemp. It will be directed by Stephen Williams. The show is a “music-driven” action drama about Christie Love (Bunbury), a CIA agent who is the head of an elite ops unit. She changes identities for her missions. There is also a mystery about the first person she was in love with. “Unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest mission impossible of her life.”
Alexander will play Sarah, an intelligence agent and the head of the unit Christie works in. “She was a badass back in her day and can summon those skills again when need be.” The cast also includes Julia Kelly (In the Vault), Camille Guaty (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past) and Thomas Cocquerel (Table 19).
Khandi Alexander is known for her roles in Treme, CSI: Miami and Olivia’s mother Maya in ABC’s Scandal, for which she received an Emmy nomination. She’ll be seen next in the upcoming HBO film Fahrenheit 451 with Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon.
