Upcoming Karin Slaughter novel picked up for television
Bruna Papandrea, the co-producer of acclaimed films Gone Girl and Wild and last year’s smash HBO series Big Little Lies, is expanding her new production company’s upcoming work by picking up the rights to the upcoming Karin Slaughter novel Pieces of Her. Made Up Stories will develop the project for the small screen with Endeavor Content.
The novel, written by bestselling crime author Slaughter, follows a woman who discovers she doesn’t know everything about her mother when a shooter goes on a rampage in their local mall and her mother is the one who stops him dead, causing her life to unravel.
The adaptation will be directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, the Emmy-nominated director behind episodes of Homeland and Mad Men, and will be developed by writer Charlotte Stoudt, who has worked on six seasons of the Showtime drama Homeland and on the upcoming final season of Netflix’s House of Cards.
“From the moment I started reading Karin’s visceral new novel, I felt like there was nothing like it on TV – an emotional mother/daughter story living in the skin of a heart-pounding action thriller. I can’t think of a more perfect pairing than Lesli and Charlotte to translate Karin’s novel to the screen. It’s truly a dream team of female content creators,” Papandrea said of the new project.
Papandrea will be producing the series through her new company with Jeanne Snow, Casey Harver and Steve Hutensky rounding out the production team. Pieces of Her is set to hit shelves for readers on August 21, published by William Morrow.
