Shrill is based on Lindy West’s bestselling 2016 memoir, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman. Written by West, Ali Rushfield, and Bryant, it tells the story of a fat young woman, Annie (Bryant) who wants to change her life, but not her body.
Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video will produce Shrill along with Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
Rushfield will serve as the series show runner. Jesse Peretz will direct and produce the first episode, while Carrie Brownstein will direct the second.
