The Impersonation Game
The common folk were presenting King Zog with the year’s harvest. Zog realized that Bean had left the ceremony and hurled his scepter through the air. It ended up crashing through the window of a tavern, aptly named The Flying Scepter.
Elfo, Bean, and Luci were playing a drinking game, which involved impersonating other people and drinking if the others guessed correctly. Bean snuck back into the castle and was found by Zog who intercepted and accosted her in her room. Bean asked for some role to play in the kingdom. Zog realized that they had a royal trip to Dankmire coming up and Odval convinced him to name Bean official ambassador to Dankmire.
The Joy of Diplomacy
The party arrived in Dankmire, the home of Bean’s stepmother, Oona. Bean was surprisingly talented in the art of diplomacy and she showed off to her father. Bean and the rest of the group were taken to a local play, showing a historical dramatization of the building of the canal between Dreamland and Dankmire. Zog was so impressed with Bean’s diplomacy skills that he assigned her to give a important speech that night.
Bean and company went to a local bar in order to write her speech. She ordered a soda, but Luci spiked it with some alcohol. Bean arrived at the ceremony to give her speech completely drunk. So Zog decided to entrust the speech to his son, Bonnie Prince Derek. Derek spent the entire speech talking about the different kinds of butter he enjoys on his toast. Bean drunkenly interrupted and stumbled through her speech. The Dankmirians took great offense to her speech and declared war on Dreamland. The Dankmirians shut the gate leading out into the canal, which severed the Dreamland ship in half. Bean, Elfo, Luci, Derek, and Zog were stuck in Dankmire, while Oona headed back to Dreamland.
The Swamp Monster
Bean and company escaped the Dankmirians by walking into the woods. Zog and Derek were taken prisoner by some by rednecks who were going to cook them up as gumbo for the Swamp Monster. Bean, Elfo, and Luci arrived in time to attempt to free Zog and Derek, but failed as the rednecks knocked them unconscious with a frying pan. The rednecks tied the group up to some posts in order to sacrifice them to the Swamp Monster.
The Swamp Monster arrived and ate the rednecks and Bean easily subdued it. The group escaped from the swamp with relative ease. Zog realized that Bean wasn’t as useless as he thought she was. They arrived back in Dreamland in time to see the hay man (a giant caricature of Zog) being burned. Zog allowed Bean to participate in the festivities while he and Derek went back to the castle.
