HBO has released a brand new promo reel for their highly-anticipated shows that are set to premiere in 2020, including a highlight of the upcoming third season premiere of their award-winning sci-fi drama Westworld. Check out the video below!
The video also offers us a preview of the network’s new 2020 shows such as the new limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider starring Ben Mendelsohn and Jason Bateman; Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant’s thriller series The Undoing; Veep creator’s newest collaboration with HBO, Avenue 5 which will be led by Hugh Laurie; executive producer Robert Downey Jr.’s Perry Mason series; John Malkovich’s The New Pope, a follow-up to HBO’s The Young Pope miniseries; Mark Ruffalo’s drama series I Know This Much Is True; Oscar winner Jordan Peele’s Lovecraft Country; and Winona Ryder’s The Plot Against America.

Set to debut on January 12, The Outsider follows police detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn), as he sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.
The New Pope is written by Paolo Sorrentino with Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises and marks Sorrentino’s second limited series set in the world of the modern papacy. All eight episodes are being directed by Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (The Great Beauty, The Young Pope). It is scheduled to premiere on January 13.
From Armando Iannucci, Avenue 5 is described as a space tourism comedy set 40 years in the future when the solar system is everyone’s oystery. With Hugh Laurie as the Captain, nothing can go wrong. Starring Hugh Laurie and Josh Gad, the series will be making its debut on January 19.
