Quibi has released the official Royalties trailer for their upcoming musical comedy series, featuring a songwriting duo as they try to deal with their clients’ weird song demands. Starring Darren Criss and Kether Donohue, the series will also include original songs written by Criss. Royalties is being described as is a satirical take on the often untold story of songwriters behind the world’s biggest hits. The show follows the ascent of a ragtag songwriting duo – Sara and Pierce (Darren Criss) – as they navigate the strange and hilarious challenges of creating a truly great song, week after week. Each episode will feature real-life music personalities portraying fictitious pop stars.
Directed by Amy Heckerling (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Clueless), the 10-episode series will star Emmy and Golden Globe winner Darren Criss (Glee, American Crime Story), Kether Donohue (Pitch Perfect), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Georgia King (Devs), and John Stamos (Full House).

Royalties will be co-written by Criss together with his longtime collaborators Nick and Matt Lang, who are also executing producing. The project will mark as the first musical series that Quibi is currently developing. It will be produced by Fox’s SideCar, headed by Gail Berman. Hend Baghdady, Joe Earley, Ricky Rollins, and Berman are also set to executive produce.
The series is scheduled to debut on June 1.
