Dear White People Vol. 4 Trailer Takes Us Back to a Musical Senior Year

Netflix has dropped the full trailer for the upcoming fourth and final season of Justin Simien’s comedy-drama series Dear White People, which is currently slated to make its return on September 22.

The video begins with Logan Browning’s Samantha and DeRon Horton’s Lionel as they look on their final year at Winchester University. It gives us a preview of some of the final season’s big musical numbers as the seniors try to produce a 90s-themed musical varsity show where they’ll be able to showcase iconic Black music. However, producing the show won’t be that easy as the members of the Black American Forum want to protest against the musical.

Dear White People stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson, and Marque Richardson. It is satirical series — which serves as a follow-up to the acclaimed 2014 film, – follows a group of Winchester University’s students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof), and activism in the millennial age.

“Set against the backdrop of senior year at Winchester as well as a not-so-distant, post-pandemic future, Volume 4 finds our characters looking back at the most formative (and theatrical) year of their lives,” reads the official synopsis. “Both an Afro-futuristic and 90s-inspired musical event, the final chapter is a can’t-miss, farewell experience with one pitch-perfect promise: sometimes the only way to move forward is to throw it back.”
