The Rock is taking on a new heel role in WWE, reminiscent of his character from over two decades ago. Initially a babyface in late 1996, The Rock quickly became a heel by mid-1997, earning the WWE Champion title at 26 in 1998 and subsequently becoming a top babyface for years.
In current WWE, the “Rocky Sucks” chants have resurfaced as the WWE Universe has chosen Cody Rhodes as their favorite. At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Event in Las Vegas, The Rock appeared with Roman Reigns to promote their WrestleMania match, but it was Royal Rumble winner Rhodes who declared his intention to challenge Reigns.
Cody Rhodes, after being insulted by Roman Reigns about his late father, Dusty Rhodes, retorted that Reigns’ grandfathers would be disappointed in them. This led to The Rock slapping Cody. Wrestlevotes on X/Twitter report that The Rock plans to lean into his heel persona by mocking “Cody Crybabies” who support Rhodes.

Following his altercation with Rhodes, The Rock has confirmed his heel status in WWE. There’s speculation of a potential tag match against Cody and World Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

The Rock recently called out “Cody Crybabies,” who want Cody Rhodes to finish his story at WrestleMania 40. On The Pat McAfee Show, The People’s Champion distinguished between Cody Rhodes fans and crybabies. He humorosly noted some fans post online while eating McDonald’s chicken nuggets, comparing them with Cody crybabies.
He stated, “At the end of the day, you’ve got the Cody crybabies, you’ve got the Cody fans, and you’ve got Cody himself. And there’s a clear distinction between the three. But, The Rock says this those Cody crybabies who ever 10 tweets they’re shoving a chicken McNugget in their mouth, for every 20 tweets they’re shoving two McNuggets up their a**, The Rock says this: all you’ve gotta do is sit back, shut your mouth, and enjoy the ride The Rock is gonn take your candy a**es on. So hashtag that.”
It will be intriguing to see how this storyline unfolds as WrestleMania 40 approaches. Especially since Seth Rollins revealed on RAW that he supports Cody Rhodes.
