WWE Superstar Jade Cargill faced a brutal attack from an unknown assailant on the latest edition of SmackDown. The incident occurred during Cargill’s tag team partner Bianca Belair’s match against Chelsea Green and Blair Davenport.
While competing in the Women’s United States Championship Tournament, Belair discovered her partner backstage, bloodied and lying on a car windshield. Shocked by the attack, Belair immediately rushed backstage to help Cargill.
Reports from Fightful Select reported that WWE wrote Cargill off TV due to an undisclosed injury. Also, there is no confirmed timeline for her return. However, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reported that Cargill might be out for at least three months, possibly longer.
Cargill was originally set to compete in the Women’s WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. In the aftermath of the incident, she has been replaced by Bayley. For now, Cargill’s injury leaves her sidelined for several months. Recently, new reports surfaced, offering an update that conflicts with the earlier injury details.
Conflicting reports on Jade Cargill injury status
The latest reports from PWInsider shared a different perspective on Jade Cargill’s injury status. Multiple WWE sources confirmed that the claims of Cargill being injured are incorrect. The attack on Cargill during SmackDown was part of a storyline. WWE made up the list of injuries to make the attack seem worse and set up a future storyline.
If the reports are true that Jade Cargill is not actually injured, WWE will likely have an interesting way of bringing her back to TV. This is especially notable since Bayley replaced Cargill in the Women’s WarGames match.
Bianca Belair, Cargill’s tag team partner, was initially reluctant to include Bayley in their team for the match. It will be interesting to see what reason Cargill gives for her return after the brutal attack. In fact, an important question that has been making rounds is whether Bayley was the unknown attacker who took out Cargill to take her place in the WarGames match.
