A24 Gives Release Dates for C’mon C’mon and Red Rocket

A24 has officially set the theatrical release dates for some of its most highly anticipated films of the year.

First up, C’mon C’mon, starring Joaquin Phoenix, is set to release on November 19, 2021, with Sean Baker’s Red Rocket also given a release date of December 3, 2021. The two films were a hit at various fall film festivals, and A24 is likely looking to get some early award buzz for the two features given the release dates.

Red Rocket is directed by Sean Baker and co-written by Baker and Chris Bergoch. The film stars Simon Rex as Mikey Saber, a washed-up porn star that returns to his small Texas hometown.

C’mon C’mon is written and directed by Mike Mills, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind 2016’s 20th Century Women. The film is being led by Joaquin Phoenix (Her, Joker), and newcomer Woody Norman. Joining them are Gaby Hoffman, Molly Webster, Jaboukie Young-White, and Scoot McNairy.

“In the film, Phoenix stars as Johnny, a documentary filmmaker whose latest project has him interviewing children across the U.S. about the state of affairs in the world,” reads the synopsis. “He forges a tenuous but transformational relationship with his 8-year-old nephew Jesse (Woody Norman), who he ends up taking on his travels from Los Angeles to New York to New Orleans.”
