Park Ji-hoon and Hong Ye-ji are confirmed to star as leads in a new K-drama. On October 17, 2023, KBS announced that the duo would be starring in the upcoming KBS2 drama, Fantasy Sonata as the lead actors, premiering sometime in January 2024. The official release date for the same is yet to be announced.
Fantasy Sonata is based on a popular webtoon and is a historical romance drama. It follows the love story between a man with two distinct personalities and a woman who falls in love with him. Park Ji-hoon has emerged fresh from the success of Wavve original K-drama Weak Hero Class 1, while Hong Ye-ji was last seen in the movie 2037.
Park Ji-hoon & Hong Ye-ji to essay interesting roles in Fantasy Sonata
According to Soompi, Park Ji-hoon will play dual characters with very distinct personalities on Fantasy Sonata. He will essay the role of Crown Prince Sajo-hyun, a highly intellectual individual working as a fashion designer at a boutique, all while hiding his real identity. However, he carries a deep wound in his heart due to his oppressive father.
He will also be seen playing the role of Ak-hee, who possesses the ability to easily seduce others but is bound by a terrifying curse. Ak-hee suffers extreme pain when he makes physical contact with fellow human beings.
Meanwhile, Hong Ye-ji will play the role of Yeon Wol, who leads a busy life filled with twists and turns. Being the only daughter of Yeon Poong Hak. she is the royal descendant of the Yeon dynasty. Like the crown prince, she hides her identity, but turns into assassin Gye Ra to execute revenge on her family. In a surprising turn of events, she is baited into a trap, and eventually suffers memory loss.
With such interesting roles and storylines, viewers will have to stay tuned until the K-drama premieres in January 2024.
