What’s the Latest Injury Update From the Former WWE World Champion?

Former WWE World Champion Booker T has provided a major injury update amid speculation about his future. As a WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T has significantly impacted the professional wrestling world for decades.

Beginning his career in the late 1980s, Booker T first gained prominence with WCW, where he emerged as one of the top stars. He won the WCW World Title five times. After Vince McMahon acquired WCW, Booker T joined WWE and secured the world title once again. This accomplishment brought his total to six world championships in professional wrestling.

Despite hinting at a potential in-ring return during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, with possibilities including a WWE Saudi Arabia show or a match in his Reality of Wrestling promotion, the Hall of Famer’s physical condition has raised concerns. His last in-ring appearance was a brief cameo in the 2023 Royal Rumble match, where he was eliminated by Gunther.

Booker T, a wrestling veteran with a career spanning decades, has encountered significant injury challenges. His recent tease of a potential in-ring return ignited excitement among fans. Unfortunately, Booker T recently provided an injury update about his knee. He revealed that the injury is currently hindering his plans to return to the ring.

Booker T reveals he’s been avoiding knee surgery for decades

Former WWE World Champion Booker T recently appeared on Busted Open Radio. The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he suffered a knee injury back in the 1990s, which he still hasn’t had fixed. He stated, “You know what? I gotta have something done to my right knee. I tore my PCL, my debut in the Global Wrestling Federation and I never got it fixed and it’s come back to haunt me and my golf game has been struggling this last year.”

He continued by saying, “The thing with my knee, I’m still putting it off. I put the clubs down. I’m still putting this thing off as long as I possibly can. I hate having surgeries. I know I’ma be laid up. My body’s gonna suffer, I’m gonna get old quick. So I’m like, man, screw it. I’ma just ride it as long as I possibly can. I’m serious (he laughed). You’re exactly right (that wrestlers never get out of that frame of mind). Tape it up, I’m good. I swear man, sometimes it hurts so bad and then sometimes, it don’t hurt at all. It’s one of those type of injuries. So I’m like, I’ma just ride it until the wheels fall off.”

Booker T, who has entertained fans for decades, currently serves as a commentator on WWE NXT. While his in-ring return is an exciting prospect, the veteran should proceed with caution, given his injury concerns.
