Alexandra Daddario Talks ‘New, Unique’ Texas Chainsaw 3D

“I wasn’t all that familiar with the Texas Chainsaw franchise and I knew who Leatherface was, but I had never seen any of the films so I didn’t know what the meaning behind it was,” Daddario said when asked if she understood early on her character’s importance in relation to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre legacy when she first read the script.  “Watching the original film and other films and researching it, I got to understand [who my] character is and what it means to the franchise and that’s when it all became a lot more meaningful for me.”

Now that she’s all caught up on the series and can put things in perspective, she can confidently say Texas Chainsaw 3D will offer the fans something she thinks they will like.  “I think it’s great that it will surprise people and be different.  The ones that stick out in most recent memories are the newer films.  And I think those stick to something more formulaic, ours does to but it deviates from the other films.  It stands on its own as a new unique version.  Especially with the 3D, too, which makes it a ‘totally cool stuff flying at you’ horror film.”

One particular stand-out moment she wants you to watch for is a chase scene through an amusement park in which she is pursued by Leatherface.  “That was a hard sequence to shoot because all I did was run through the crowd screaming at the top of my lungs over and over and over again at different angles.  I had a great time on the shoot, but it was difficult as much as it was fun.  One thing I got to do that was awesome was hang off the side of this Ferris Wheel and do that stunt myself.”
