Classic ’80s slasher comes to DVD/Blu-ray from Arrow Video.
Greek director Nico (ISLAND OF DEATH) Mastorakis’s long MIA 1986 survivalist slasher THE ZERO BOYS is coming to dual format DVD and Blu-ray on April 25th and they’ve just announced the full feature list for the release.
Full disclosure: your humble editor worked on some of them.
THE ZERO BOYS stars NIGHT OF THE COMET‘s Kelli Maroney and SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE’s Nicole Rio as part of a gang of “weekend warrior” survival gamers who head to a cabin in the woods (back when doing so wasn’t yet a total cliche) and immediately run afoul of a band of nameless, faceless lunatics whose aim is to torment, torture and kill, kill, kill!
Hans Zimmer also provides the score, his first!
Here’s a look at the complete features list:
- Brand new 4K restoration of the film, approved by writer-director Nico Mastorakis
- High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentations
- Original Stereo 2.0 audio (uncompressed PCM on the Blu-ray)
- Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
- Brand new audio commentary with star Kelli Maroney, moderated by writer and filmmaker Chris Alexander
- Nico Mastorakis on Nico Mastorakis the Zero Boys director offers up a characteristically unique interview on the making of the film
- Zero Girl brand new interview with Maroney
- Blame It on Rio brand new interview with star Nicole Rio
- Music Videos
- Original Theatrical Trailer
- Stills Gallery
- Original Screenplay (BD/DVD-ROM content)
- Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Graham Humphreys
- Fully-illustrated collectors booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic James Oliver
THE ZERO BOYS is a fun and stylish ant-slasher, with a dose of “meta” self-awareness that predates SCREAM by a decade. And Maroney is wonderful in it.
