Entertainment Weekly has released a new clip for David Tennant’s (Good Omens, Jessica Jones) upcoming thriller, Bad Samaritan, written by Brandon Boyce (Wicker Park, Apt Pupil) and directed by Dean Devlin (The Librarians, Geostorm). The clip highlights burglar Sean Falco (Robert Sheehan) discovering Cale Erendreich’s (David Tennant) murder room as the criminal has unknowingly stumbled into a serial killer’s lair. In the movie, Sean works as a valet who develops a clever scam to burglarize the houses of rich customers. Things go smoothly until he robs the wrong customer, Cale, and discovers a woman being held captive in his home. Afraid of going to prison, he leaves the woman there and makes a call to the police, who find nothing when they investigate. Now, the valet must endure the wrath of the kidnapper who seeks revenge on him, all while desperately trying to find and rescue the captive woman he left behind.
Devlin spoke about the project, saying that Boyce called him up a couple years ago telling his friend that he had just finished a spec script and wanted Devlin to take a look at it. After reading it, Devlin told Boyce not to show the script to anyone “because I’m buying it from you right now!” Devlin claims he “fell madly in love” with the Bad Samaritan story and was determined to make the movie. He also commented that casting Tennant as the film’s highly-intelligent villain was a “no-brainer.”
Bad Samaritan also stars Carlito Olivero, Kerry Condon, and Jacqueline Byers. The movie will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018.
