2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the legendary animated film Princess Mononoke, and to celebrate, GKids and Fathom Events are partnering to celebrate all things Hayao Miyazaki.

In honor of the anniversary, Princess Mononoke will be receiving special, celebratory 25th anniversary screenings on April 3, April 4, and April 6, 2022, three dates that kick off what Fathom and GKIDS are calling “Studio Ghibli Fest 2022.” This celebration festival will extend throughout 2022, and will include a variety of classic Ghibli films getting rereleased into theaters for a brief period.
The full list of films being celebrated during Studio Ghibli Fest 2022 include:
- Princess Mononoke 25th Anniversary – April 3, 4, & 6
- Ponyo – May 15, 16, & 18
- The Cat Returns 25th Anniversary – June 26-27
- Kiki’s Delivery Service – July 31, August 1, August 3
- Only Yesterday – August 28-29
- Howl’s Moving Castle – September 25, 26, & 28
- Spirited Away – October 30, November 1 & 2
Princess Mononoke will be shown in both Japanese and English dubbed versions. In addition to the full film, exclusive footage from the 2005 documentary Hayao Miyazaki and the Ghibli Museum will be shown off for the first time outside of Japan.
