The ongoing Xianxia C-drama The Legend of Shen Li released episode 2 on March 18, 2024. The drama features popular actors Zhao Liying and Lin Gengxin in the lead roles. Episode 2 focuses on Xing Zhi (Lin Gengxin) and Shen Li’s (Zhao Liying) bond getting stronger. Xing Zhi continues to care for the injured Shen Li. He also gives her a bath and cleans her. Furthermore, they playfully tease each other.
Shen Li wonders how long she will have to stay with him as one day in heaven equals one year on earth. But, she decides to stay with him for the time being as he is the only person who has not caused her any harm. Moreover, Shen Li can see that Xing Zhi struggles with money and decides to help him. Meanwhile, she seems to have lost her magical powers.
The next morning, Shen Li accompanies Xing Xhi to the market. Shen Li craves for delicious meat, but Xing Zhi does not have the means to buy it. He gets into trouble with a deceitful fortune-teller for meddling with his business. Xing Zhi accurately predicts the fortune of a man whose house is about to burnt down.
The Legend of Shen Li Ep 2: Lin Gengxin & Zhao Liying develop a strong bond
Shen Li finds out that Xing Zhi possesses the power of divination. She tries to talk him into making money out of it. She tells him that officials will pay him a hefty amount for predicting the future. But Xing Zhi refuses. He calls divination one of the most harmful qualities one can have.
A helpless woman knocks at Xing Zhi’s door, begging him to help her. She asks him to cast a divination on her and look for her husband, who went to war 15 years ago and completely disappeared without any trace. All she wants is to know if he is still alive and to find closure. But Xing Zhi turns her down and asks her to return. His actions surprise Shen Li.
Shen Li leaves in the middle of the night to check on the poor woman. She sees her dead husband’s spirit guarding her. When the spirit sees her, it starts to chase after her, intending to harm her. When Xing Zhi arrives at the spot, the spirit attacks him instead.
Shen Li turns back into her human state as she continues to shield Xing Zhi from the spirit’s attacks. She promises the spirit that she will help him so that his wife can see him one last time. Shen Li and Xing Zhi arrange a ritual to help the lady see her dead husband’s spirit. The dead person’s aura will affect the woman and will eventually shorten her lifespan. Xing Zhi was aware of this, and this is why he refused to help her earlier.
