The ongoing Wuxia C-drama Joy of Life Season 2, starring Zhang Ruoyun, released episode 14 on May 22, 2024. The episode focuses on the aftermath of Wu Jiu’s capture. Lin Ruofu is very happy that Fan Xian’s (Zhang Ruoyun) name has been cleared of the allegations brought against him by the perpetrators. He thinks Cheng Ze got them killed to silence them before they could reach the Ministry of Justice. Fan Xian agrees with him, but it’s still a mystery to him why Fan Wu Jiu was present at the scene himself.
While Ruofu thinks that Wu Jiu’s confession would vindicate Fan Xian, he disagrees. Fan Xian thinks that Wu Jiu won’t confess, as aside from Fan Si Zhe, he also attacked members of the Overwatch Council, which is treason. Ruofu asks if he was the one who sent Si Zhe away, and Fan Xian accepts. But it still does not make sense how a skilled warrior like Wu Jiu got caught so easily.
Meanwhile, Cheng Ze attempts to clear his name from the allegations. He swears not to have any affiliation with Fan Wu Jiu. Wu Jiu had left the capital on a mission. Miss Ye assures others that he was captured alive. Cheng Ze would be able to clear his name if Wu Jiu confessed.
On the other hand, Wu Jiu wakes up from his benumbed state. Flashbacks show viewers what happened on the day when Wu Jiu’s army attacked Fan Si Zhe’s carriers. As soon as they approached the journeyers, they faced restrictions from the Saintess of Northern Qi, Haitang Duo Duo. The skilled combatant successfully defeated Wu Jiu and took down his army.

Fan Xian’s name had previously been entangled with the saintess. The recent revelations make Ruofu suspicious of Fan Xian’s intentions with his daughter, Wan Er. Fan Xian tries his best to explain to him that it had been nothing more than a diplomatic collaboration, but Ruofu is not ready to listen to him.
Then, the episode shows Bi An visiting Wu Jiu in prison. Wu Jiu gives him a detailed account of the events that have unfolded since he attacked Fan Si Zhe. He promises to keep his mouth shut. Bi An advises him to deny the second prince’s involvement in the case in front of the judicial bureau.
Meanwhile, Fan Wu Jiu confesses to working at the prince’s residence. He knows Yuan Meng because she is close to Hong Cheng, who is a close acquaintance of the prince. Wu Jiu admits to making the moon-embracing pavilion with some contracts behind the prince’s back. After someone discovered his corruption, he hired an assassin under Fan Xian’s name to murder that person. His main motif was to frame Fan Xian.
Fan Xian finds it odd that Cheng Ze’s associate wants to side with him. He thinks that Wu Jiu is trying his best to distance his name from Cheng Ze. Meanwhile, Qi Nian brings in the news that Lai Ming Cheng from the censorate has come to visit Fan Xian. Fearing that he will get caught faking his injuries, Fan Xian quickly gets in his wheelchair.
Lai Ming Cheng is still as bitter as ever. Upon arriving at the Fan residence, he complains about the house exceeding the permitted size. Ming Cheng asks Fan Xian if it was Cheng Ze who poisoned Fan Xian’s father. He finds it odd that Wu Jiu took such a drastic step without the prince knowing. He proposes to work with the Overwatch Council to investigate the prince and his involvement. Fan Xian accepts his offer.
