The ongoing Wuxia C-drama Joy of Life Season 2, starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin, released episode 26 on May 28, 2024. The episode primarily focuses on the events that unfold following Fan Xian (Zhang Ruoyun) and Princess Wan Er’s (Li Qin) marriage. Fan Xian and Wan Er get married following the ancestral rituals. It is a joyous occasion for them and their families. Even the emperor sends a congratulatory handwritten scroll to commemorate the event.
After the event, as Fan Xian and Wan Er rest in their chamber, he catches a glimpse of Wu Zhu, who has come to visit Fan Xian in secrecy. Wu Zhu is Fan Xian’s mother’s blind guard who has always protected him. Fan Xian asks him about his whereabouts, but Wu Zhu keeps silent. He mentions that he is trying to look into his past. He asked Ku He, but he was reluctant to tell him. Wu Zhu also investigates about Lady Qing Mei, Fan Xian’s late mother.
Fan Xian believes that his mother came out of the divine temple. He promises to take Wu Zhu to the north to help him recall his past. Wu Zhu mentions traveling to the south to revisit where he stayed with Fan Xian. He mentions the serial killings of Jiangnan and promises Fan Xian that he is not responsible for them. But then again, he can’t be too sure as the killer’s technique is similar to his. Fan Xian completely trusts him and believes Wu Zhu is not the perpetrator.
Wu Zhu believes he should have stayed away from Fan Xian as he might have lost control and caused him harm. His only purpose in life is to protect Fan Xian from impending danger. But the thought of him being responsible for so many heinous crimes eats Wu Zhu out.

Joy of Life Season 2 ep 26: Zhang Ruoyun meets an old acquaintance
Wu Zhu urges Fan Xian to check his sword for bloodstains. He asks Fan Xian to visit Mount Cang and then leaves as silently as he came.
Wang Er proves to be a worthy companion of Fan Xian as she meets his peers. She expresses her gratitude to Qi Nian and the members of the Overwatch Council for being by her husband’s side and protecting him. Furthermore, she rewards them handsomely for their efforts.
Meanwhile, the chief shopkeeper of the Qingyue hall visits Fan Xian’s residence and urges him to accompany him. As Fan Xian and Qi Nian travel with him, they are surprised to see all the shopkeepers in front of the hall to greet him. To Fan Xian’s surprise, the shopkeepers take him to a funeral hosted for his mother. They bow down before her epitaph and rejoice Fan Xian’s return.
The chief shopkeeper mentions that he went far and beyond to look for Fan Xian. Lady Qing Mei told him about her son. The old man also reveals that Qing Mei is named Fan Xian. She somehow sensed her impending doom and wanted to give her son a name before her passing. If she survived, his name would have been something else.
These revelations make no sense to Fan Xian. He is still curious to know how his mother passed away. The shopkeeper is unsure how she died, but shortly after her death, the business was handed over to the royal family.
He warns Fan Xian to be careful as the royal family closely monitors them. The emperor even forbade the Ye family from leaving the capital.
