Capcom announced that it was developing Resident Evil Village DLC last June due to “popular demand.” It has stayed in the shadows until Capcom’s 2022 summer showcase, where the company revealed more about the upcoming expansion. This DLC will have three parts: Shadows of Rose, Mercenaries: Additional Orders, and a third-person mode. They are all coming out on October 28.
Shadows of Rose takes place after the main game and stars Ethan’s daughter, Rose. She’s trying to break free of the powers she was gifted. In order to rid herself of the curse, she “enters the consciousness of the Megamycete,” the bacterial super-organism that is the root of the mold in the series. She meets her doppelgänger in this warped space and fights enemies and her environment in a third-person perspective.

Mercenaries: Additional Orders is an arcadey Mercenaries-based add-on that adds three new characters: Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and Lady Dimitrescu. They all have unique moves. Chris seems to utilize firepower, Heisenberg was shown summoning his own monsters, and Dimitrescu appears to use her melee attacks and throw chairs. There will also be new stages.
Third-person mode is exactly what it sounds like. It turns Village into a third-person game that looks more like the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.

Capcom also recently revealed that Resident Evil Village would be coming to PlayStation VR2. The showcase didn’t reveal much more about that, but did specify that the “main story” would be playable, insinuating that the DLC and Mercenaries mode wouldn’t be part of that package. Resident Evil Re:Verse, the delayed multiplayer project, will also come out on October 28 alongside the expansions.
