Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been a long time coming and was about a month from its May release date. However, that’s no longer the case, as Rocksteady Studios has delayed the game nearly a full year. It will now come out on February 2, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The team announced this through a tweet on the game’s Twitter account. It gave the common answer studios give for delays, citing that it had to “take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players.” Rocksteady then also thanked the players for their continued support and patience.
Bloomberg reported on this delay in early March (as it did last time around, too) and said the studio was focusing on squashing bugs and honing systems already in the game. However, according to the report, this delay’s purpose isn’t to radically change the experience.
This came up because players were generally displeased over its presentation filled with live service elements like rampant gear scores and the need for a persistent internet connection. Insider Jeff Grubb, as noted by Twitter user Knoebelbroet, corroborated this report and said on a podcast that he had heard it was pushed to 2024. He called it a “delay-ass delay” and stated that his source had always been solid, but also explained at the time that this stuff is hard to nail down for certain.
Rocksteady has not released a game since 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight. If February 2, 2024 is indeed Suicide Squad‘s final release date, it will means it will have taken the studio just shy of nine years to put out its next game.
