When Starfield releases at the start of next month, the game will kick off a “multi-year relay race” of first-party Xbox games, according to Xbox chief marketing officer Jerret West. After a recent drought of first-party titles, Microsoft said it is planning to quench parched Xbox fans soon.
Starfield is the “starting gun” of a multi-year string of Xbox games
Bethesda’s upcoming Starfield will be the first of several first-party Xbox game releases over the next few years. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, West likened the game to the beginning of a race.
“This is, in my mind, the doorway, almost like a starting gun, to what I think is going to be a multi-year relay race of first-party titles,” he said

Turn 10 Studios’ Forza Motorsport from is following Starfield in October. In 2024, players can expect to see Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory, Stoic Studio’s co-op action-adventure game Towerborne, and fantasy action RPG Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment.
West also promised “stories [Xbox hasn’t] told yet as well, that are going to unfurl in 2024 and 2025.”
Further into the future, there are also games like Compulsion’s folklore-driven action-adventure game South of Midnight, inXile Entertainment’s steampunk RPG Clockwork Revolution, Rare’s new IP Everwild, Avalanche Studios’ smuggler’s paradise Contraband, Ninja Theory’s experimental game Project Mara, and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones title.
Of course, there are also new installments in long-running franchises, such as The Elder Scrolls 6, Perfect Dark, Age of Mythology Retold, State of Decay 3, The Outer Worlds 2, and the reboot of the Fable franchise.
Finally, West also reiterated how important the support from third-party studios will be over the next couple of years. This applies not only for console-exclusive or timed-exclusive games, but also the games that help to bolster the Xbox Game Pass list.
He concluded, “I think we are entering a period where this is the beginning of something that’s going to be really special over the course of the next several years.”
