Ronald Capshaw tries to steal US Bearer Bonds to bail out Obsidian Estates and gentrify Whitechapel. Capshaw also discovers that Mathilda is still alive and picked up by Harry Ward. After three seasons of trying to find her, Reid is finally reunited with his daughter. More complex themes like back-alley abortions of young girls are explored in this season. When a chemist is murdered for being an abortionist, a special doctor is employed who will conduct medically supervised abortions for young girls with unwanted pregnancies.
Adam Rothenberg and Matthew Macfadyen portray Captain Homer Jackson and Detective Inspector Edmund Reid, respectively, in the series. Bennet Drake is played by Jerome Flynn, and Long Susan is portrayed by MyAnna Buring.
