Why was Scott Reeves’ Steven Webber in prison in General Hospital?
Steven Webber allegedly murdered a comatose convicted murderer to use his organ to save a teen’s life.
Steven and Olivia’s relationship bloomed after surviving a bus crash together. However, their bond is ruined due to Steven’s former fiancée Maggie. She asks him to make an organ arrangement to save the life of a teen who is in desperate need of a transplant.
After Steven and Olivia became exclusive, they decided to tie the knot. However, their wedding ceremony is disrupted upon the police’s arrival. The truth about Steven murdering another patient comes to light, leading to his life sentence.
Meanwhile, Johnny Zacchara also cast massive pressure on Steven, prompting him to sell organs in the black market. When he hesitated to resort to illegal practice, Zacchara eventually got him arrested for Memphis murder.
In an attempt to save her son from prison, his mother makes a harsh decision. She kills Maggie and takes the murder blame on herself. Since his release, Steven has stayed away from Port Charles and started life anew. There are multiple instances in the soap opera where his mother mentions him. As of now, he seems to have relocated to Sedona.
Steven was last seen in 2013 and is reportedly making a comeback after 11 years in General Hospital. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Reeves expressed his enthusiasm for Steven’s return. He recalled a phone conversation he had with General Hospital‘s executive producer Frank Valentini.
The actor said, “He (Valentini) was telling me, ‘Steve’s gotten out of jail, he’s been released on parole,’ and when he told me the storyline idea, I couldn’t have been more excited. I said, ‘Oh, my gosh, Frank, this is great! I would love to come do this.’”
