Introduced in 2018 and portrayed by Kelly Reilly, she is a key character renowned for her manipulative, selfish, and smart persona. Beth is also married to Rip Wheeler, but eventually, their family cannot grow. The tragic reason behind it also involves her brother, Jamie, enhancing her continued hate for him.
So, here are all the answers as to why Beth cannot have children in Yellowstone.
Here’s why Yellowstone’s Beth cannot have kids
Jamie did not inform Beth that she would be sterilized during her early abortion. This led to her not being able to embrace motherhood anymore.
The reason why Beth has had extreme hate for brother Jamie since the beginning of the show was revealed during Season 3. The episode titled “Cowboys and Dreamers” features a flashback, featuring a teenage Beth who was pregnant with Rip Wheeler’s child. However, she is aware that keeping the baby would turn out to be dangerous. This is because if her father John Dutton learns about it, he would not spare Rip or accept the baby.
To avoid risking Rip’s life in the hands of John, Beth eventually takes the aid of her brother Jamie. He keeps her pregnancy a secret and helps her terminate it without letting their father know. Thus, Jamie and Beth mutually decide to go to a nearby hospital to get her abortion done. Albeit, he knows that they would be caught if they went to a nearby hospital, all thanks to the Dutton’s family popularity in the local area.
Hence, to keep everyone’s eye away from Beth’s pregnancy, Jamie takes her to a clinic called Broken Rock Indian Reservation. Although the abortion gets done, he keeps a tragic secret from his sister, which affects her life to date. Jamie doesn’t tell Beth about the sterilization process mandatory at the clinic, which would prevent her from becoming a mother forever.
When Beth eventually finds out, her hatred for Jamie grows. Consequently, she continues to hold a grudge against him.
