Singer-songwriter Mariah Carey has canceled her Wednesday, December 11 concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As the cancellation happened only hours before it was supposed to take place, people are concerned whether it was due to health-related issues.

Mariah Carey shares health update ahead of Pittsburgh concert cancellation

Carey canceled her Pittsburgh concert after coming down with the flu. The multi-Grammy-winning songstress took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the cancellation and explain the reasons behind it. Notably, the concert was set to take place at the PPG Paints Arena and was part of Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time tour.

“Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu,” Carey shared. “It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.”

There hasn’t been any announcement that the show will be rescheduled. TicketMaster confirmed the cancellation through its official website and explained that those who had already purchased tickets would get their refunds within two to three weeks.

Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time started on November 6, 2024, in Highland, California, and initially had 10 shows across the US. The next concert will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on December 13. Carey will then perform at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on December 15 before closing the tour with a final performance at the Barclays Center in New York City, New York, on December 17.

Carey’s announcement was met with support from many of her fans, and messages for a speedy recovery poured in. “Feel better Mariah! Sending much love and healing vibes your way Queen. Take all the time you need to rest and get well. Your health comes first. We love you MC,” an X user with the handle @LegendaryTingz posted.

Recently, Carey’s popular single “All I Want for Christmas You” climbed back to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. She released the song in 1994, and since then, it has become a standard during the holiday season.
