Trailer for the Alphabet

Schmidt’s true crime account

Before partaking in the consumption of Bad Meat, director Rob Schmidt (Wrong Turn) helmed The Alphabet Killer which you can now see a sales trailer for here. It’s still a bit rough around the edges (production audio is apparent) and ends with “in production,” but it gives you a sense of what the film is about.

Eliza Dushku plays Megan, an investigator stricken with schizophrenia in the wake of a murder case involving a dead 10-year-old. Committed to an institution for a spell, Megan pulls through her bizarre visions, gets her mental health issue in check and returns to her job. Things are swell until Megan suspects the killer she was after has returned.

Based on true events that took place in the ’70s, Dushku admited to MTV recently that some liberties were taken with the story to heighten the drama. Lots o’ names in this one including Timothy Hutton (The Dark Half), Cary Elwes (Saw), Martin Donovan (who Schmidt used in “Masters of Horror: Right to Die”), Carl Lumbly (“Alias”), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects) and Michael Ironside (“Masters of Horror: The V Word”).
