Or, we should say, lack of one…
When director Patrick Lussier revealed at the Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors event last month that Lionsgate was not considering a sequel to My Bloody Valentine 3D, fans of the slasher redo were not the only ones disappointed.
Actor Kerr Smith, who plays Sheriff Axel Palmer in the film, believed a sequel was certain. “I’m not mad, but I’ve got to tell you I’m shocked,” he confesses to ShockTillYouDrop.com. “I think a lot of people are. I mean that movie made a lot of money. I don’t know what the reasoning is behind the decision to not make another one. Sucks, because I would love to do another one. I had a great time doing that movie.”
During the press tour for MBV3D, Smith, Jensen Ackles and Jaime King revealed they were privy to Lussier and writer Todd Farmer’s plans for a follow-up and expressed their willingness to reprise their roles.
My Bloody Valentine 3D hits DVD and Blu-Ray on May 19th.
