DirecTV, which in the last year has hosted VOD exclusives on titles like Enemy and Life After Beth, will debut Marcus Nispels delayed, rock n roll exorcism flick Exeter (formerly, Backmask) this July before a theatrical release via Viva Pictures.
Exeter has seen a long road to release. The film was largely announced and produced in 2011/2012, but has been held up in the meantime. In the film, After an all-night party at an abandoned asylum known for its horrific treatment of its patients, a group of ordinary teens decide to tinker with the occult, leading to a possession, a paranormal mystery and into a bloody nightmare that no one could predict.
I am thrilled to have our film Exeter premiere exclusively on DIRECTV, a premium platform that is also supported with massive P&A, commented Nispel. Horror fans can now enjoy my work uncompromised. The marketing teams at Viva Pictures, BLKBX Creative Group and DIRECTV have some serious treats in store to make this a true event and change the way of how movies will be mainlined.
DirecTV will premiere Exeter on July 2nd. No official date for the following theatrical has been announced, but the Facebook teases August 7th. Find an international trailer for the film, below.
