Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is among the most-anticipated movies of the year. The Prabhas-led film is set to arrive in theatres in less than two weeks, and fans are already excited. However, ahead of its release, several rumors are making rounds claiming that Salaar is a remake of Prashanth Neel’s Ugramm. Recently, the film’s producer came forward and cleared the air.
Filmmaker Prashanth Neel is known for making action thrillers and crime movies. The director gained immense fame with his film franchise KGF, which stars Yash. Following the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2, all eyes are now on the director’s upcoming project, Salaar. The director also helmed the 2014 film Ugramm, which featured a bond between two friends as they tried to protect a girl. Many assume that Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s friendship is derived from Ugramm.
Is Salaar a remake of Ugramm?
Ever since the makers of Salaar released its much-awaited trailer, netizens have been divided. While some think the movie has a unique plot, others believe that it is the remake of Prashanth Neel’s Ugramm. Salaar producer Vijay Kiragandur recently broke his silence and dismissed the rumors. During a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the producer confirmed that Salaar is not a remake of Ugramm.
He said, “Prashanth Neel is the creator of both Ugramm and KGF. He’s aware of how to give a different product each time altogether. Hence, there’s no truth (to Ugramm rumors).”
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire will hit the theatres on December 22, 2023, in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. The film will battle against Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the box office. While this box office clash is being widely discussed, the producer gave some insights into picking the date. He said, “We have been planning release dates according to astrology for a decade now and will continue to do so.” Hombale Films is producing Salaar.
