Rajat Kapoor’s Lootere trailer released
On March 6, 2024, the makers of the upcoming series released its official trailer on social media. They captioned the post with, “All Hands on Deck! #HotstarSpecials #Lootere official trailer. Streaming from 22nd March.” Lootere promises a whirlwind of emotions as it explores the themes of survival, greed, chaos, and terror.
The 2-minute long video offers a powerful narrative about an Indian vessel that becomes the target of pirate attacks. The clip opens with Rajat Kapoor scanning the sea and finding pirates approaching their vessel. The pirates get a hold of the ship in no time and take the officers onboard hostage. The situation further escalates when they start negotiating ransom deals.
Vivek Gomber, who plays Vikrant Gandhi, is the greedy leader of the Mogadishu Port Authority who has an ulterior motive behind the ransom deals. He convinces the pirate captain to ask the Indian government for $50 million as a price for the hostages.
In a statement, actor Rajat Kapoor talked about his experience of filming Lootere. He said, “For someone like me, who has never been on a ship, to play the captain of the ship was an adventure and a delight. We were trapped in our own ship by the pirates and the ship-crew, which is already like a family- got even closer. Moreover, the crew making the series became a family in South Africa for a few months. Lootere was this coming together of the opposites and everything came together thanks to the real captain- Jai Mehta.”
Stream Lootere on Disney+ Hotstar on March 22, 2024.
