Swatantrya Veer Savarkar ending: Was Veer Savarkar released from prison?
After extensive investigation, it is proven that Veer Savarkar posed a threat to the British Government. Instead of detaining him in Britain, they illegally deported him to India and sentenced him to Kala Pani. Throughout his punishment, he endures extreme torture but writes as many books as possible, aiming to ignite passion among the Indian youth.
Learning about Veer Savarkar’s condition, the youth begins harassing the British government, forcing them to release him after serving fifteen years. Later, Bhagat Singh visits Veer Savarkar, expressing that he shares the same ideals as him, and confesses to assassinating an English officer, John Saunders.
Who do the revolutionaries side with?
After the First World War’s conclusion, unrest takes over the nation. After being freed from all the conditions, Veer Savarkar forms the Hindu Mahasabha and assumes its presidency. Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s Muslim League, Mahatma Gandhi’s Congress, and Jawaharlal Nehru’s Congress also emerge.
As the Second World War unfolded, a meeting was held between the presidents of the three parties and the British government. Veer Savarkar proposes a strategy where the Indians take training from the British and later rebel when the time is right. However, due to Mahatma Gandhi’s disagreement with the plan, Veer Savarkar and others proceeded with his decision instead. Revolutionaries like Subhash Chandra Bose and Doctor Ambedkar supported Veer Savarkar’s ideals.
What happens to Veer Savarkar?
Later, in Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, it’s revealed that Subhash Chandra Bose commanded the Azad Hind Fauj. When he dies during his visit to Japan, the youth starts rebelling, forcing the British to accept defeat. This also leads to India’s partition and Congress’s ascendancy. However, Mahatma Gandhi’s support for Pakistan during a fund dispute infuriates many, including Veer Savarkar’s Hindu Mahasabha.
Ultimately, Nathuram Godse, a Hindu Mahasabha member, targets Mohammad Ali Jinnah. However, due to his absence, he assassinated Mahatma Gandhi as he felt he was responsible for the division. However, Congress shifted the blame to Hindu Mahasabha due to the fear of Veer Savarkar’s power. Veer Savarkar is imprisoned for life, leading to the dissolution of Hindu Mahasabha. Years later, his death in prison signifies the burial of his story and his sacrifices.
