Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 Release Date to Clash With Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 & Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira to release on the same date?

Kamal Haasan recently took to his social media to unveil the new release date for Indian 2 along with an intense new poster. He wrote, “#Indian2 Releasing worldwide in cinemas 12th July 2024! #1stSingleFromIndian.” The eagerly awaited film has faced several delays due to production challenges and the COVID-19 pandemic, but the makers have assured fans that the sequel will live up to and even surpass the legacy of the original film.

The movie, directed by Shankar Shanmugham, is a sequel to the 1996 classic Indian, in which Kamal Haasan’s performance in dual roles made it to the iconic shelf. The sequel also promises a stellar cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

On the other side of the ring, Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira is also gearing up for a July 12, 2024 release. This film is a remake of the highly acclaimed Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which won five National Film Awards. Just like the original, the film is gearing up to tell the inspiring story of Air Deccan founder Captain G R Gopinath.  The maker previously hinted at what the upcoming film is going to be all about. It is a story of “grit, determination, and jugaad, of an underdog challenging the socio-economic fabric of a system entrenched in class, caste and power dynamics”.

The clash between Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira is not the only competition on July 12, 2024. John Abraham’s Vedaa and Scarlett Johansson’s Fly Me To The Moon are also slated to release on the same day. Only time will tell how this intense competition will play out at the box office.
