Netflix released Gyeongseong Creature Part 1, consisting of seven episodes, on Friday. Starring Park Seo-Joon as Jang Tae-Sang and Han So-Hee as Yoon Chae-Ok, the thriller K-drama is set in 1945 in Gyeongseong (now known as Seoul) when the Japanese ruled over Korea.
Tae-Sang is the master of House of Golden Treasure, aka a huge pawnshop. He is a wealthy man with connections and can find any missing person. When Japanese Commissioner Ishikawa threatens him to find his mistress Myeong-Ja, his troubles begin. Meanwhile, Chae-Ok and her father Yoon Joong-Won come to Gyeongseong to find her mother who went missing 10 years ago.
On the other hand, the Japanese government is working on a hidden weapon. Director Ichiro and Lt. Kato capture Koreans and do experiments on them. One such experiment turned out to be successful, giving birth to a dangerous creature.
Gyeongseong Creature Part 1: Park Seo-Joon, Han So-Hee’s hunt for missing people turns into a dangerous mission
In Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 episodes 1-4, Park Seo-Joon’s Tae-Sang and So-Hee’s Chae-Ok make a deal. She and her father look for Myeong-Ja, while Tae-Sang is in search of Chae-Ok’s mother and a famous painter named Sachimoto.
Through various sources and fights, they conclude that they will find their answers in Ongseong Hospital. Tae-Sang seeks Kwon Jun-Taek’s (Wi Han-Joon) help to get inside the hospital. Chae-Ok and Joong-Won stay behind after learning that Koreans are held hostage in the basement. Once Tae-Sang leaves, he searches for Sachimoto, who is seen drawing pictures of a deadly creature.
The father-daughter, on the other hand, learns about the gruesome experiments and that Myeong-Ja is one of the prisoners. Meanwhile, viewers see a woman with a wooden locket turn into a monster, killing whoever it sees with its long tentacles. Director Ichiro and Lt. Kato try to tame it, planning to use it as a weapon during war. But their experiment leads to a massacre in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Tae-Sang’s feelings for Chae-Ok grow stronger and he decides to go to the hospital. Although his reason at the time includes saving his business, fans can evidently see why he breaks into the hospital. Sachimoto and Jun-Taek accompany him. When they arrive, Chae-Ok rescues a few kids and hence, Tae-Sang like any lover boy helps her.
After this, Chae-Ok learns about Sachimoto and she asks him about her mother’s whereabouts. Unfortunately, he claims he doesn’t know and leaves the hospital after showing them alternate ways to enter the basement. Soon, Tae-Sang and Chae-Ok realize that they are not just looking for missing people but are set to face something more dangerous.

In Netflix‘s Gyeongseong Creature episode 4, Tae-Sang, Chae-Ok, Joong-Won, and Jun-Taek are in the basement. A guard attacks them, but Tae-Sang shoots him after a huge fight. Meanwhile, Jun-Taek leaves the group and heads out focusing on his personal mission.
Joong-Won advises the two to go separate ways to complete their mission on time. After he leaves, Chae-Ok and injured Tae-Sang partner up. Episode 4 ends with the Gyeongseong creature breaking out of its prison and killing all the guards. Park Seo-Joon’s character comes face-to-face with it.
The first four episodes also include some heart-fluttering moments between Seo-Joon and Han So-Hee. It is evident that he has fallen for her and she has started to care for him. The K-drama also focuses on a scene where Joong-Won mentions a detail about his wooden necklace. He says that Chae-Ok made it for him and her mother long back.
