Queen of Tears Episode 8: Kim Soo-Hyun, Kim Ji-Won navigate Queens Group’s downfall
The latest Queen of Tears episode 8 flashed back to when Baek Hyun-Woo proposed to Hong Hae-In. The scene shifted to the present when Hyun-Woo reminded Hae-In about the divorce after she temporarily lost her memories. She decided to file for divorce and end their relationship. The following day, Hyun-Woo, with his lawyer friend Kim Yang-Gi, arrived at the office to discuss further proceedings. Hae-In came with her lawyer, Vincenzo (Song Joong-Ki).
The duo, along with their respective lawyers, finalized the divorce. On her way back, Hae-In reflected on her moments with Hyun-Woo. She stopped at the playground to monitor his movements throughout the day. Hae-In followed a few activities from his schedule, including having dinner at a place Hyun-Woo frequented. She saw Hyun-Woo with Yang-Gi arrive at the restaurant when the former expressed his desire to stay beside Hae-In even after their separation.
Meanwhile, Yoon Eun-Seong found out about Hae-In’s cancer diagnosis. He recalled a time in his childhood at the orphanage when he rescued Hae-In from a dog while she tended to his injury. He waited for Hae-In to arrive and stressed how he wanted to be useful for her now. Hae-In rejected his proposal and dropped the Hercyna deal.
The following day, both Hae-In and Hyun-Woo’s mothers met. Hae-In’s mother, Kim Seon-Hwa, insinuated that Hyun-Woo was working with the conglomerate because he hoped for significant alimony. This left Hyun-Woo’s mother, Jeon Bong-Ae, severely heartbroken. Meanwhile, Hyun-Woo discovered that Mo Seul-Hee bought the rare men’s watch and wondered who she gifted it to. He soon confronted Eun-Seong for following Hae-In and spotted the watch in his hand.
Later, Eun-Seong went to Hong Soo-Cheol to reveal issues with the resort site. He expressed that the military base beside the land refused to move, thereby putting the whole resort deal in jeopardy. Although Hyun-Woo helped Soo-Cheol and the conglomerate with a possible solution, it fired back at him. The investors pulled out of the deal due to the embezzlement scandal. Chairman Hong Man-Dae ordered to fire Hyun-Woo, while Eun-Seong made a solo investment into the deal.
Hae-In stopped the Chairman’s orders and wondered why Hyun-Woo hadn’t left the group after their divorce. Hyun-Woo expressed his desire to stay. He later met Hong Beom-Ja, who revealed that Mo Seul-Hee had been living with a fake identity. Beom-Ja further stated more details about Seul-Hee giving birth in prison and having a 34-year-old son. They decided to team up with Beom-Ja’s investigator.
The investigator revealed that Seul-Hee sent her son to the orphanage that she later sponsored with the Chairman. They gave a scholarship to Eun-Seong. Hyun-Woo added two and two together to suspect that Eun-Seong was indeed Seul-Hee’s son. Ahead of Man-Dae’s 80th birthday celebrations, Beom-Ja tried to reveal Seul-Hee’s true character. However, Man-Dae refused to believe his daughter and hit her for assaulting Seul-Hee. Beom-Ja left the house while celebrations began.
Cheon Da-Hye also left her husband, Soo-Cheol. She moved abroad with their son. Meanwhile, Eun-Seong, Secretary Grace, and Seul-Hee continued with their plans. On the other hand, Hyun-Woo and Beom-Ja discovered that Eun-Seong was Seul-Hee’s son through a DNA test. After the celebrations, Soo-Cheol discovered that Da-Hye had left for good. He looked around for his wife, but she was already gone. This left him devastated.
Meanwhile, Man-Dae was with Seul-Hee when Hyun-Woo informed him of her and Eun-Seong’s relationship. However, Seul-Hee drugged the Chairman, who suffered a heart attack. She also became the legal guardian for any medical decisions regarding Man-Dae. At the hospital, the chaebol family discovered the truth, but it was too late.
Eun-Seong’s Pione Investment became the second largest shareholder of the conglomerate. Seul-Hee, having the power of attorney, sided with Eun-Seong and removed the Queens family from the conglomerate. Meanwhile, the family left for Yongduri with Hyun-Woo and Hae-In, ultimately deciding to take shelter in their hometown until they get back on their feet.
