W: Two Worlds Apart is a 2016 K-drama starring Lee Jong-Suk and Han Hyo-Joo. It revolves around the love story of a surgical resident and a webtoon’s hero.
According to Netflix, the official synopsis reads, “After being pulled into the webtoon world created by her father, a surgical resident gets entangled in a murder mystery involving the story’s hero.” Jong-Suk plays Kang Chul, the hero from the webtoon world, and Hyo-Joo plays Oh Yeon-Joo, the daughter of the webtoon creator Oh Sung-Moo (Kim Eui-Sung).
In the previous episode, Kang Chul and Yeon-Joo reunited in the world of the webtoon W. With the possibility of a sad ending, Kang Chul gave her a choice between him and her father. If she picked Sung-Moo, Kang Chul would try his best to send the two to the real world. But if she chose him, then they would likely stuck in the W webtoon where Kang Chul has to serve his prison sentence.
W: Two Worlds Apart episode 16 begins with Yeon-Joo choosing both of her men. Although the finale consists of major hiccups, the K-drama ends on a happy note.

In W: Two Worlds Apart episode 16, Yeon-Joo refuses to pick between Kang Chul (Lee Jong-Suk) and her father Sung-Moo. So, Kang Chul moves Yeon-Joo and Sung-Moo to a safe house and meets Han Chul-Ho (Park Won-Sang).
The latter has kept Seo Do-Yoon hostage and tortures him to learn more about the real world. After Kang Chul arrives, Do-Yoon lets Do-Yoon go. The webtoon hero then threatens Chul-Ho with evidence of his crimes and asks his rival to stay away from his friends and family. Furious, Chul-Ho claims that the world may end if Kang Chul dies, and he shoots the latter. After a scuffle, Kang Chul flees the scene and calls Yeon-Joo to pick him up from an unknown bus stop.
Kang Chul is shot and loses blood as he waits for his wife. As soon as she arrives on the other side of the road, she rushes towards him before he collapses. Unfortunately, the world changes when she is running towards Kang Chul, throwing her into the real world.
In the real world, Yeon-Joo assumes the worst possible things that could have happened to her husband. In agony, she waits for him day and night. Meanwhile, her father Sung-Moo tries to save his daughter and Kang Chul by sacrificing himself.
As the creator of W, he draws scenarios in order to meet Yeon-Joo before he vanishes. He gets a final glimpse of his daughter when she is running towards Kang Chul at the bus stop. Although he dies, he makes sure his child gets a happy ending. Before he vanishes, he kills Chul-Ho through his drawings and exposes all his crimes.

In W: Two Worlds Apart, Yeon-Joo (Han Hyo-Joo) and Kang Chul are separated as she is in the real world while he lives in W. He survives the bullet injury and serves two years in prison. During his final days in jail, he holds a book that Yeon-Joo’s father has sent.
In it, he finds a letter that mentions that he is dead. Sung-Moo further writes that he wants Kang Chul to return to his daughter and does not tell her that Sung-Moo has died. With the death of the creator, Kang Chul is free from the settings of the webtoon and can live like a normal person in the real world.
Towards W: Two Worlds Apart ending, Yeon-Joo wakes up in a hospital and realizes that Kang Chul is sleeping beside her. After their reunion, he forwards Sung-Moo’s message to her. The episode ends with the couple watching a sunset and spending quality time with each other.
