The series follows the tumultuous love story of a married couple, chaebol heiress Hong Hae-In (Kim Ji-Won) and her husband, Baek Hyun-Woo (Kim Soo-Hyun).

With Queen of Tears coming to an end this week, fans have been worried about whether or not Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo will have their happily ever after. Over the past few episodes, the drama has documented significant tension in the couple’s lives with their initial divorce and Hae-In’s subsequent terminal illness diagnosis. On X (formerly Twitter), fans demand a happy ending while postulating their theories of how the couple’s journey would end.

Queen of Tears Ending: Will it be a happy or sad ending?

With only two episodes left for the beloved K-drama to end, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to make predictions of the ending. While some hope for a happy ending, others offer a range of options, from a sad to an open ending.

Meanwhile, check out some of the tweets along with possible theories below.

Some Queen of Tears fans predict a happy ending for Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo. Although the couple went through a divorce process, viewers hope that Hae-In might not have registered the divorce itself. Moreover, now that Hae-In and her chaebol family lived in Yongduri and understood the importance of love and family relationships over materialistic needs, they might settle in the village. Meanwhile, others feel that the K-drama would end with Hae-In and Hyun-Woo marrying each other after canceling their divorce.

A few other fans have pointed out specific indicators in the drama that might hint at a happy ending. Check them out below.

After Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo visited the latter’s apartment after their divorce, fans noticed the house to be dull and depressing. However, when the two moved in together, brighter colors emerged on the screen, and their pictures on the fridge pointed to a happy ending where the couple moved into the house permanently. Another fan pointed out that the dragonfly on the wall might be an indication of Hae-In being pregnant.

Throughout the series, there have been several indications of Hae-In’s pregnancy. Firstly, the duo dealt with the loss of their child soon after Hae-In got pregnant. Be it their phone or apartment password being the child’s due date, the creators have potentially left hints of Hae-In getting pregnant in the end. Moreover, Hae-In’s grandfather, the late Hong Man-Dae, wished that the couple name their child Soo-Bin. Hae-In and Hyun-Woo might name their child as per his wishes.

Artist Jeon Eun-Sook’s artwork, analyzed by art critic Jo Sang In, teases at bright colors amidst the blurry memories, indicating Hae-In’s diagnosis. These factors indicate that a happy ending might be on the way for Hae-In and Hyun-Woo. Meanwhile, fans are holding on to these indicators in hopes of a happy ending.

Other possible predictions of a happy ending include Hae-In’s successful surgery and remembering Hyun-Woo’s name. Although she’s lost her memories, Hyun-Woo might help her regain them. While he remains in prison, his friends, including lawyer Kim Yang-Gi, might help him get out. He will then focus all his energy on getting Hae-In’s memories back. Furthermore, the balsam color extract on Hae-In’s nails remained intact by the end of the previous episode. This can also indicate a happy ending.

Meanwhile, a few fans have also left the door open for a sad or open ending. Check out the tweets below.

Although Hae-In had a successful surgery, she has lost her memories. Fans remain worried that Queen of Tears will end on a sad note, with her not regaining her memories. Others have chosen a more realistic approach, with the drama ending on a sad note according to the plot and the storyline. A few others have kept their options open for a bittersweet ending.

The preview for the upcoming Queen of Tears Episode 15 has left mixed expectations. Yoon Eun-Seong (Park Sung-Hoon) burns Hae-In’s diary, where she had written about her memories with Hyun-Woo. He also promises to take care of her, replacing Hyun-Woo. As Hae-In grapples with the loss of memories and not being able to recognize her family members, the chaebol family focuses on eradicating Eun-Seong and Mo Seul-Hee. Meanwhile, it also indicates that Hyun-Woo can prove Eun-Seong’s embezzlement and fraud.

The trailer ends with Hae-In finding herself closer to Hyun-Woo. With such predictions, it will likely have a happy ending. However, predictions about a sad or open ending cannot be completely eradicated at this point, given the history of the series.

To watch it all unfold, don’t forget to tune in to Queen of Tears Episodes 15 and 16 on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN and later on Netflix.
