The Atypical Family Episode 10 Recap & Spoilers: Did Chun Woo-Hee Die?

The Atypical Family episode 10 aired on Sunday, June 2, 2024, on JTBC and Netflix. Starring Jang Ki-Yong and Chun Woo-Hee, the K-drama revolves around a mysterious woman who affects the Bok family, the members of which possess magical powers.

In the previous episode, Da-Hae (Chun Woo-Hee) helped Bok Gwi-Joo (Jang Ki-Yong) discover his daughter Yi-Na’s (Park So-Yi) superpowers. That night, Gwi-Joo’s mother, Man-Heum, dreamt of her son’s death. The episode ended with Gwi-Joo confessing his love to Da-Hae and sharing a kiss.

The latest episode 10 begins with Gwi-Joo and Da-Hae driving on a rainy day. With the latter driving, the two tease each other while sharing a happy moment. They have a disagreement on the color of their favorite actress’ clothes, so Da-Hae asks him to time travel to the past and find out the truth. When Gwi-Joo returns to the present, he sees that the car has had an accident, and Da-Hae is not in the driver’s seat. It looks like she is thrown out of the windscreen as it is shattered. Horrified, Gwi-Joo wonders if Da-Hae is dead.

The Atypical Family episode 10 spoilers: Jang Ki-Yong fails to find Chun Woo-Hee’s body after the accident

After the accident scene, The Atypical Family episode 10 takes viewers a few days back. The Bok family invites Da-Hae into their home once again. As Gwi-Joo and Da-Hae have decided to become an official couple, Da-Hae begins to live with the Bok clan.

However, she looks awkward around Gwi-Joo. The episode shows that Gwi-Joo’s mother, Man-Heum, has told Da-Hae about her dream. The elderly lady mentions that her son will die to save Da-Hae when he travels back to the fire incident. Da-Hae tries to convince Man-Heum that she will find a way to help Gwi-Joo, but Man-Heum is certain that it will not change the future. Hence, Da-Hae has been walking on eggshells around Gwi-Joo since returning to his house.

Meanwhile, Man-Heum wants Da-Hae to be with him and make him happy until the day comes. Soon, after spending a day with Yi-Na, the couple plans to go on a trip. The episode comes back to the first scene, when the two are in a car. After the accident, Gwi-Joo and the cops fail to find Da-Hae’s body. The devastating news breaks Gwi-Joo, and he continues to search for her for months.

Then, the episode shows Man-Heum telling Gwi-Joo that the family will not use their powers from that day onwards. After several months, Dong-Hee (Claudia Kim) has returned to her original weight but still struggles to use her powers. Meanwhile, Yi-Na helps Gwi-Joo find Da-Hae. The kid asks her dad to travel back a day before the accident and warn Da-Hae. Gwi-Joo does that, but nothing changes.

The Atypical Family episode 10 ending: Why did Chun Woo-Hee fake her death?

The Atypical Family episode 10 further shows Yi-Na pushing Da-Hae’s uncle, Hyung-Tae (Choi Kwang-Rok), to tell the truth. The child believes that Da-Hae is still alive. A flashback features Da-Hae seeking Hyung-Tae’s help to plan the accident.

Da-Hae fakes her death so that Gwi-Joo gives up on his powers and never returns to the past. This is her way to save him. Hyung-Tae keeps it a secret from Da-Hae’s fake mother, Il-Hong, who senses something fishy. She forces Hyung-Tae to take her to the beach, which he has been visiting frequently. As he cannot refuse her, Hyung-Tae gets in the driver’s seat while Il-Hong sits in the backseat.

To protect Da-Hae, he lets Yi-Na look into his eyes and read his mind. The child immediately calls Gwi-Joo and informs him that Da-Hae is alive. Gwi-Joo runs to her and gets overwhelmed after seeing her. Da-Hae tries to push him away and mentions why she faked her death. The episode ends with Gwi-Joo embracing and kissing her.
