K-pop group Neo Culture Technology’s latest sub-unit, NCT Wish, has a confirmed debut date. The six members of the group- Sion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo, and Sakuya emerged as the winners of the reality show NCT Universe: Lastart and formed the newest NCT sub-unit.
Though the Japanese act NCT Wish has yet to debut formally, they released the first single, “Hands Up,” on October 2023. The group has been active on social media as well. Their latest series ‘Wish Bakery’ is an early fan favorite. The fans claimed that Riku and Sion’s tomfoolery while trying to make delicious cakes was a treat to watch.
Debut date of NCT Wish confirmed
NCT Wish will be performing their debut stage on February 21 at SMTown Live 2024. Later, the group will release their debut single album, Wish, on February 28 at 6 p.m. KST/ 4 a.m. ET.
Before the official debut, the music label SM Entertainment released a short teaser, “NCT Wish: Wish for Our Wish.” The cinematic teaser shows the members in their happiest state, breaking free from the classrooms and reaching the playground on a bright, sunny day.
The sun doesn’t stay long, and they quickly get drenched in sudden rain. The young spirits of the rookies do not get dampened even the slightest by the sudden gush of rain. At the end of the teaser, the members discover a rainbow, symbolic of the group’s long struggle to debut and finally finding the ray of the rainbow as the moment has come.
The debut of NCT Wish also signifies a full-circle moment for K-pop fans, as BoA, the Korean pop legend, will produce the single.
SM Entertainment shared with Korean media that BoA’s decade-spanning career in K-pop will help guide the rookies. BoA will not join NCT Wish on their debut stage. But the singer’s insight will surely be instrumental in the new rookie group’s career.
