The release of the latest installment in the Jurassic Park franchise is upon us. For the first time in ages, Jurassic Park original cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum will reprise their characters as Jurassic World Dominion soars into theaters. The story takes up four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, following the new adventures of Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and the rest of the team.
A Statistical Look at the Jurassic Park Franchise
1993: The year of the Jurassic Park release. The film hit the theaters on June 11 and it was an immediate success. Universal brought the movie to the theaters a few more times over the years, including a particular Jurassic Park 3D version that debuted on April 5, 2013.
4: Credits for Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Goldblum reprised the role of the adventurous mathematician in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and the recently released Jurassic World Dominion. Among the Jurassic Park original cast members, only Bradley Darryl Wong showed as Dr. Henry Wu as many times as Goldblum in the franchise. Both Sam Neill and Laura Dern returned three times, while Ariana Richards, Joseph Mazzello, and the late Richard Attenborough followed with two.
63: Million U.S. dollars of the Jurassic Park production budget. Briefly, the story follows a group of scientists trapped on an island full of living dinosaurs, which had a massive impact on pop culture, and is still beloved by fans. The movie smashed all kinds of records at the box office, grossing more than $1.046 billion.
6: The movies released in the franchise. The story is divided into two trilogies connected by some recurring characters. Over the years, the protagonists have changed, but their adventures always take place on an island populated by dinosaurs.

2: The number of films in the franchise directed by Steven Spielberg. The revered director helmed Jurassic Park and its direct sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Colin Trevorrow directed two films as well, 2015’s Jurassic World and Jurassic World Dominion. Joe Johnson and J. A. Bayona also feature a direction credit in the franchise after directing 2001’s Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, respectively.
368: Million U.S. dollars grossed by Jurassic Park III in 2001, which is the lowest in the series. The franchise wouldn’t see another film entry until 2015’s Jurassic World.
37: The episodes in the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. Netflix’s CGI-animated series focuses on the misadventures of a bunch of teenagers in an adventure dinosaur camp on Isla Nublar. The voice cast includes Paul-Mikél Williams, Jenna Ortega, Ryan Potter, Raini Rodriguez, Sean Giambrone, Kausar Mohammed, Jameela Jamil, and Glen Powell.

1: Script worked on by Michael Crichton, who wrote the two novels that inspired Jurassic Park. Initially, Crichton planned Jurassic Park as a stand-alone story, but he changed his mind following the success of the live-action adaptation. Crichton worked on the screenplay of the original movie with David Koepp.
3: The Academy Awards won by Jurassic Park, which took home Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. Subsequently, only The Lost World: Jurassic Park managed to catch the Academy’s attention with a nomination for Best Visual Effects in 1997, but the Oscar went to Titanic that year.
124: The minutes of Jurassic World. The movie debuted in 2015 and quickly became the most-grossing movie in the franchise, earning more than $1.6 billion. It introduced the new characters of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, portrayed by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, respectively.
