Variety is reporting that Oscar winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Suicide Squad, Blade Runner 2049) is in early talks to take on a serial killer role in The Little Things for Warner Bros. The actor would join Oscar winners Denzel Washington (Fences, Training Day) and Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) who were previously announced as coming on board the crime thriller.

The Little Things follows a burned-out Kern County, Calif. deputy sheriff named Deke (Washington) who teams with Baxter, a crack LASD detective (Malek), to reel in a wily serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past.
If a deal is made, Leto will play the serial killer in the movie. John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, The Highwaymen) will write and direct the film with production gearing up to start in September.

The musician/actor’s next onscreen project, Morbius, will release in theaters on July 31, 2020. The movie follows biochemist Michael Morbius (Leto), who tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism. The movie is directed by Daniel Espinosa and is an adaptation of the comics created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane.
