Dad Stop Embarrassing Me is inspired by Foxx’s relationship with his daughter, Corinne Foxx, who will produce alongside Alex Avant.
Kyla-Drew (The Good Doctor, Jessie) is set to play Foxx’s daughter. David Alan Grier (A Soldier’s Play, In Living Color) will also star in the multi-camera comedy alongside Porscha Coleman (Silicon Valley, Ballers), Jonathan Kite (2 Broke Girls, Black Dynamite: The Animated Series), Heather Hemmens (Roswell: New Mexico, If Loving You Is Wrong), and Valente Rodriguez (Happily Divorced, The George Lopez Show).

Casting and production on the series were initially planned for February before production was shut down due to the ongoing global pandemic. The original showrunner, Jim Patterson, reportedly stepped down from the project recently. Patterson was replaced by Bentley Kyle Evans (Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show). Evans was initially hired as a consultant and will now act as executive producer and showrunner. All episodes for the series will be directed by Ken Whittingham (Modern Family, Black-ish, Grace & Frankie).
