Sony Pictures has finally announced the release date for Oscar-winning actor-director Denzel Washington’s upcoming drama film titled A Journal for Jordan, based on Dana Canedy’s best-selling 2018 memoir of the same name. Starring Michael B. Jordan, the film is scheduled to arrive in New York and Los Angeles theaters on December 10, 2021, followed by a wide release on December 22, 2021.
The wide release date will see the film going up against high-profile competitors in the form of Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly-anticipated The Matrix 4, Universal Pictures’ animated sequel Sing 2, 20th Century Studios’ long-delayed The King’s Man, and the most recently announced Downton Abbey 2 from Focus Features.

The film is based on the true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy’s love affair with First Sergeant Charles Monroe King. While deployed overseas, Monroe King had decided to keep a journal full of poignant life lessons for his and Canedy’s newborn son named Jordan. Unfortunately, he was killed in action fourteen years ago in Iraq when Jordan was just seven months old. However, his spirit lives on in his messages of love to Dana and Jordan through his journal.
