Young Rock actor Uli Latukefu is reuniting with the man actor he portrays on television, with the actor reportedly joining DC’s Black Adam.

According to a report from Deadline, Latukefu, who portrays the college football era Dwayne Johnson in Young Rock, is joining Black Adam to play a currently unknown role. Deadline reports that it’s not certain whether or not he’ll be playing a younger version of Johnson’s Black Adam character. Latukefu has also starred in Netflix’s Marco Polo as Byamba and was in Alien: Covenant. Most recently, he’s starred in Black Site and is set to appear in Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins.
Black Adam will star Dwayne Johnson, who has been known to star as the popular anti-hero for some time now. The film will be directed by Jaume-Collet-Serra, with a screenplay written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshiryani. Black Adam is reportedly set to feature the live-action introduction of the Justice Society of America, with Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.

The antihero was originally supposed to make his highly-anticipated debut in 2019’s Shazam! However, the studio elected to split the characters off into individual films to allow them breathing room and proper development. A sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, is set to release June 2, 2023.
Black Adam is currently scheduled for release on July 29, 2022, having been pushed back from a December 2021 release.
