Paramount Pictures has released a brand new Snake Eyes trailer for their forthcoming G.I. Joe spinoff, starring Henry Golding and Andrew Koji. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Friday, July 23. Its current release date pits it against three competitors in the form of M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming thriller Old and the Mark Wahlberg-led biopic drama Joe Bell.
The video begins with Golding’s titular character as he saves Koji’s Storm Shadow from the mob. As a way of repaying him, Storm Shadow brings him to Japan in order for Snake Eyes to join their clan and become one of their warriors, where he will undergo three dangerous challenges to prove his worth. The trailer also features lots of new action-packed footage teasing Cobra, Scarlett, and Baroness as well as our first glimpse at Golding in the character’s iconic black suit and mask.

Snake Eyes is the ninja commando best known for his deadly ability with a sword and trench knives. However, he is also a highly skilled martial artist who can be just as dangerous unarmed. Joining Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) as the titular ninja assassin are Andrew Koji, Iko Uwais, Samara Weaving, Úrsula Corberó, Peter Mensah, Haruka Abe, Takehiro Hira, and Steven Allerick.
In the upcoming G.I. Joe spinoff, a tenacious loner is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
