Lionsgate has announced that production on Eli Roth’s live-action film adaptation of Gearbox Software’s popular video game series Borderlands has officially been completed after more than three months of filming in Hungary. In celebration of the filming wrap, the studio has also released a new behind-the-scenes photo which you can check out below, offering us our first full look at Claptrap, who is set to be voiced by Jack Black.
The Borderlands movie is expected to exist in a different universe than the game which will allow the project to stray away from the first game in the franchise. The star-studded film will be led by Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Olivier Richters, and Edgar Ramirez.
Claptrap really wanted to let you all know he made it down the stairs safely. That, and the production of #BorderlandsMovie has officially wrapped! See you at the theaters in 20 pic.twitter.com/69NFljVjDc

Based on one of the world’s most successful video game franchises from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games, the Borderlands movie will follow a group of unlikely heroes called Vault Hunters led by Lilith and Roland, who have been recruited for a retrieval mission. Lilith, an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas. Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland, a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis, the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap, a persistent wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.
The film is directed by Eli Roth from a screenplay written by Craig Mazin. It also stars Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond, and Bobby Lee.
