Lionsgate’s The Expendables 4 Adds Andy Garcia to Ensemble Cast

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award nominee Andy Garcia has officially signed on to star opposite Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone in Lionsgate and Millennium Media’s upcoming fourth installment to their action franchise The Expendables. He is set to portray the role of a CIA agent assigned to accompany the titular team on their dangerous mission. Production is expected to begin next month.

Garcia is best known for his performances in crime films such as Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part III, and Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven films, which all featured star-studded ensembles. He recently worked with Statham in Guy Ritchie’s Wrath of Man movie.

The Expendables 4 will be directed by Scott Waugh (Act of Valor, Need for Speed) from a screenplay written by Spenser Cohen with revisions by Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly. Joining Statham’s Lee Christmas and Stallone’s Barney Ross are returning cast members Dolph Lundgren (Creed II), and Randy Couture (Blowback) who are reprising their respective roles as Gunner Jensen and Toll Road.

The new installment will also introduce franchise newcomers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Power), Megan Fox (Till Death), and Tony Jaa (Monster Hunter).

The new Expendables installment is produced by Statham, Kevin King Templeton, and Les Weldon Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, and Jonathan Yunger on behalf of Millennium Media. Executive Producers for Millennium Media are Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, and Trevor Short with Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman on behalf of Campbell Grobman Films. The co-producer is Abby Mills. Eda Kowan and Jonah Leach will oversee the film for Lionsgate.

Lionsgate will release the film in the US, Canada, and the UK.
