Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black is prepping his next feature, a 1970s-set film noir titled The Nice Guys. TheWrap today reports that Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are being eyed for roles in the project, although the outlet notes that discussions are decidedly nascent.
Set in Los Angeles, The Nice Guys pairs a fighter and a private detective as they attempt to solve a murder.
Crowe recently starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and is soon set to make his directorial debut with The Water Diviner. Gosling’s own first directorial feature, Lost River, stars Christina Hendricks, Matt Smith, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan and Ben Mendelsohn and just premiered at Cannes.
