Coming off from a well-received voice performance as King Shark in The Suicide Squad, Sylvester Stallone has jumped back to another superhero universe as he reunites with James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The Oscar nominee took to Instagram to confirm that he has signed on to reprise his role as Ravager captain Stakar Ogord, who was last seen by MCU fans during Yondu’s memorable funeral and the mid-credit scene. Production on Marvel Studios’ forthcoming third installment is currently underway. The sci-fi action comedy is scheduled to debut on May 5, 2023.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is once again written and directed by James Gunn. It features the return of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel as they reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot. Joining them are MCU newcomers Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, and Chukwudi Iwuji in a key role.
Plot details about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are still under wraps but it potentially involves the team’s search for the missing Gamora, who abruptly left after Thanos was finally defeated. Gunn also previously confirmed that Bradley Cooper’s Rocket will play a big part in the upcoming threequel
The space-traveling team was most recently seen in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame where they were joined by Chris Hemsworth’s Thor during the final moments of the film. Because of this, some of the Guardians of the Galaxy stars including Pratt, Bautista, and Gillan are set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
